RedLineIPS Composite Clamp SmartInserts
The SmartInserts’ recessed body design creates a secured engagement of the assembly, preventing slippage between the clamp and the SmartInsert, and it is attached before installation by high temperature, industrial-strength VHB adhesive tape. The compressible, NEMA-4 rated waterproof gasket seals the interface between the pipe and the support to prevent any egress of moisture and/or contaminants that could become trapped and lead to the formation of a corrosion cell. All materials are UV resistant to ensure peak performance even in the most demanding environments, such as the extremely corrosive conditions in coastal areas, off-shore, and similar harsh environments.
The SmartInserts are essentially mini SmartPads, featuring the same FRP exoskeleton, material, and manufacturing process. The difference lies in the lips of the SmartInserts, which allow them to fit snugly inside the clamping body. The Hydroseal gasket is identical to that of the SmartPads and functions in the same way. Unlike SmartPads, the SmartInserts do not require FRP SmartBands but are instead affixed to the pipe using the clamping mechanism of the pipe support.

Fiber-Reinforced Plastic (FRP) Exoskeleton
Our specialized manufacturing process produces custom-made SmartInserts that precisely fit the exact outer diameter of a pipe, thus ensuring a perfect seal between the pad and the pipe it protects. There is also a lip on each side of the SmartInserts that would prevent them from sliding out of place or fall off. All this ensures reliability and maintenance-free operation.
This component is made from the same material and manufacturing process as our SmartPad System and our FRP Wear Pads.

Hydroseal Gasket
The Hydroseal, compressible, closed-cell gasket is designed to deliver unmatched external corrosion protection to industrial piping systems in the petrochemical and gas industries. The gasket is the key component for preventing water molecules from ever entering the interface between the Inserts and a pipe to cause corrosion. The gasket consists of a closed-cell structure resembling a memory-foam mattress for pipes. Once compressed, the gasket conforms to the pipe’s outer surface, effectively dampening vibration and improving impact resistance.
The key feature of our Hydroseal gasket, however, is the watertight NEMA-4 rated watertight seal it creates when it compresses, between a pipe and the SmartInserts. Our gasket system eliminates the chances of moisture being trapped between the pad and the pipe. Once moisture is taken out of the equation, a corrosion cell cannot form.

Hydroseal Gasket Features

VHB Double-Sided Tape
The RedLineIPS SmartInserts are built with a lip to allow them to sit snug within the clamps and not shift out of place. In cases where there is excessive movement or vibration that may cause a concern that shifting may occur, an adhesive tape can be applied to the outside of the SmartInserts to further bond them with the clamps, to ensure no upset movement will occur.
The adhesive tape used in the installation of the RedLineIPS SmartInserts is 3M’s VHB (Very High Bond) double-sided tape. 3M VHB tape is renowned for its strong adhesive properties, capable of creating a durable bond between surfaces without the need for mechanical fasteners or welding. When used with the RedLineIPS SmartInserts, the tape ensures a secure and long-lasting attachment that withstands the rigors of industrial environments, including vibrations, temperature fluctuations, and moisture.
