What is an Adjustable Pipe Support?
Adjustable pipe supports are versatile structural components designed to securely hold and stabilize pipes across various industries. These supports are crafted from durable metals and feature adjustable mechanisms that allow for precise positioning and alignment of piping systems. Ideal for accommodating thermal expansion and load variations, they optimize fluid flow, and ensure the safety and efficiency of piping systems in industrial settings.
RedLineIPS Adjustable Pipe Supports
Committed to producing the highest quality pipe supports for medium and large scale piping systems, Cogbill is a true industry pioneer. With our RedLineIPS heavy-duty adjustable pipe supports leading the landscape, we’ve established ourselves as a beacon of reliability and on-time delivery. Our focus isn’t only staying ahead of the competition; it’s also about providing unmatched quality and configurability in the piping infrastructure.
Purpose of Adjustable Pipe Supports
Adjustable Pipe Supports are engineered to resolve common issues occurring in the petrochemical and gas industries. They serve several essential purposes, first to support pipes during installation and operation, offering flexibility through height adjustability. Other key purposes are to reduce maintenance requirements, mitigate external corrosion, reduce vibration and noise, and optimize overall system efficiency. In addition, our weld-free supports offer speedy and safe installation environments.
Adjustable Supports Components
The body of an adjustable pipe support is divided into two main components: The head mount, and the support body.

6 of 6- The threaded rod, also referred to as a stud, supports the pipe clamping mechanism that holds the pipe in place. The threaded rod operates within a mechanism that offers height adjustability, to accommodate various pipe system configurations and allow for field fine tuning.
- The clamping mechanism comes in a wide variety of configurations, including flat pad, saddle, saddle with U-Bolt(s), hold down clamp, pipe clamp, etc. These clamping mechanisms allow engineers to configure the pipe supports according to specifications and to accommodate a wide range of pipe sizes and load requirements. They can be used to support horizontal pipe runs and on occasion can be used to mount 90° pipe elbows.
Support Body
This is the main body of the pipe support. The most commonly used support body is the beam base support. Constructed from a modified “I” steel beam that allows the fastening and adjustment design for the head mount to be easily accessible. We can also manufacture cylindrical or “pipe” base supports if required for a specific application. The support body can alternatively be made from welded plates, if the design requires so.

This adjustability is often crucial to accommodate changes in pipe heights and locations, usually due to temperature and other factors.
Optional Components
- Corrosion/Vibration Liners: To prevent metal-to-metal contact and effectively mitigate vibration and noise, our head mounts can be equipped with various liners, including VIBLON, PVC, NEOPRENE, VHT/CL, TEFLON, and FRP, among others. Refer to our rubber liner page for more information.
- Base Plates: Another optional component is for the support body to have a base plate. This could be used in unstable locations when you need more area of contact. These base plates are typically square plate with optional holes/slots used to bolt and secure the supports to concrete or other options. The base plates may also have slide plates underneath, to allow limited movement caused by pipe expansion and contraction. For more on our slide plate offerings, visit our slide plates page.
Benefits of RedLineIPS Adjustable Pipe Supports
- Safety: In industries like petrochemicals, where the stakes are high, our RedLineIPS heavy-duty adjustable pipe supports provide necessary support. They are designed to be easily adjusted, making them an asset in extreme weather conditions or unforeseen disasters, thereby enhancing safety and minimizing risks.
- Convenience at Your Fingertips: We understand that the smallest miscalculations can lead to significant challenges. Our adjustable supports offer the convenience of making fine adjustments, ensuring that your piping systems remain perfectly aligned and functional, even when unexpected changes occur.
- Maintenance Made Easy: Regular maintenance is crucial for the longevity of piping systems. Our adjustable supports simplify this process, allowing for easy access and adjustments. This design consideration not only saves time but also reduces the effort needed for routine checks and repairs.
- Weld-Free Wonders: Welding, while effective, comes with its own set of challenges. Our adjustable pipe supports, assembled with nuts and bolts, eliminate the need for welding, thus reducing the risk of corrosion and structural vulnerabilities.
